Hello Foursquare family, it's Zoe here from Summit Foursquare Church here in BC. Happy New Year! I wanted to share with you today one of the privileges I’ve had in my life is that Simon, my husband, has taught me how to mountain bike. And so often he would ride behind me and shout different tips to me as I’m navigating over obstacles and going down mountains.
Now, one of the things that he would shout often is, 'Look where you want to go, Zo! Look where you want to go! I would talk to him afterwards about what that was about, and he would say to me, 'When you're going over obstacles, don’t look at the floor because that's where you're going to end up.' And guess what happened?
I wonder as me, and you enter 2026, where is your gaze? I have people in my life who often ask me that. They’ll say, 'Zoe, where is your gaze?' Is it consumed by a circumstance? Are you waiting on a doctor's report? Is there pressure that you're feeling as you go into the new year? Is your church growing? Is your church not growing? Each brings its own joys and difficulties.
So I want to pass along this question as we enter this year: where is your gaze? Psalm 34 talks about the fact that those who look to him will be radiant. I want to be radiant with the presence of God, and that as I look at him, I realize that He is smiling at me no matter my circumstance.
I’d love to pray for me and you as we enter 2026.
Prayer: Jesus, I just say thank you for this incredible group of people, men, and women who are serving you across Canada and farther afield. Today we receive this invitation to put our gaze on you once again as we enter this new year, knowing that you will provide for us, that you will give us the wisdom, the strength, the guidance.
So Father, I pray, we would sense your smile on us today as we look to you, as we place our gaze on you. In your name, Jesus, Amen.
Much love, Foursquare family.
